Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often do therapy sessions occur?

We find that therapy is most effective when sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis. Some insurance carriers allow for multiple weekly visits.

Q: How long does it take to obtain an appointment?

It is our policy to schedule an appointment in a week or less, as long as your schedule permits.

Q: Do you take insurance?

Yes, we work with most insurance companies. However, even if we are not included in your particular network, we will do our best to incorporate your out-of-network coverage for your maximum allowable benefit.

Q: How much does a session cost if I don't have insurance coverage?

Although we are a private psychotherapy practice, we do substantially reduce our fees for patients lacking insurance coverage. Our rates are extremely competitive with other private psychotherapy practitioners. Feel free to call us at 631-559-7033, for pricing information specific to your needs.

Q: Don't I need to be in therapy with a psychiatrist?

Although there are certainly some psychiatrists who provide psychotherapy, a large percentage primarily assess patients for medication needs and management. They frequently work in conjunction with Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Clinical Psychologists (PhDs), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), or Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), who provide the psychotherapy itself. If medication management is indicated, North Shore Behavioral Health Services is happy to refer you to a provider within our network.
