Our Founder

Andrew Parisi

The founder of North Shore Behavioral Health Services, Andrew Parisi is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 10 years experience in the area of mental health and addiction. He received both his Undergraduate and Graduate degrees from Stony Brook University in the field of Social Work. Andrew worked at Stony Brook Hospital as well as JT Mather Memorial Hospital, where he specialized in Medical Social Work with an emphasis on Trauma. He has spent the past several years working in the field of outpatient mental health as well as private practice. Andrew has extensive experience working with those affected by mood and personality disorders, but also treats behavioral and anger issues, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and all types of addiction.

Andrew's philosophy on addiction recovery is rooted in the 12 steps and, although he is trained in several modalities of treatment, he prefers an eclectic approach to foster growth and promote self-awareness. He has a genuine desire to help others heal and better themselves by promoting unconditional acceptance rather than enabling. Through a cognitive behavioral strategy, goal-oriented interventions are provided with concrete and realistic strategies that help cultivate growth.

Andrew's mission is to provide effective counseling in a safe and comfortable environment for individuals, groups, couples and families. He approaches personal wellness as a journey between client and therapist, in which both parties work intensively to achieve balance and harmony. Andrew believes that mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health are all intertwined, and that sharing one's story with an empathetic listener is important to a person's overall well being.
